From there it's the typical suburban story of one small boy against the principal, because every kid knows that the principal is the bad guy if you're in a story. That's the backdrop for Phil's every day, youthful angst at being stuck in school. So bullying, shunning, teachers participating in group- all of these things become even more taboo than, for instance, vandalization. It's run by the FBI, and when a government agency is involved, the simple aspects of socialization become very well regulated- because they are studied, and that creates a liability and a responsibility. This one has a more sinister aspect- but that's because it's a video game. You may have heard me talk about the Montessori programme I was in growing up- we really do have some incredible teaching groups, and districts, and you can actually join some of them remotely. Unlike the rampant silliness of Henry, who trip de-trips his way through implausible scenario after implausible scenario, Riddle School focuses on the trials and tribulations of Phil, a particularly Gifted child, who is sent to one of America's many great Gifted schools.
